Research Scientist I

Status: Salary / Exempt

Reports to: Associate Director of Discovery Operations

Description: Ichor Life Sciences, Inc is seeking a Research Scientist I for our Discovery department. We are seeking a dedicated and driven Research Scientist to join our forward-thinking research team. The successful candidate will contribute to groundbreaking research by designing experiments, analyzing data, and publishing key scientific findings.

FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, design, and execute experiments in alignment with research goals and objectives.
  • Conduct laboratory work, including sample preparation, data collection, and analysis using a variety of techniques and methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and optimize experimental protocols for accurate and reliable results.
  • Analyze experimental data using statistical and computational tools, interpreting results to draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Generate hypotheses based on data trends and contribute insights to the broader research team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to validate findings and refine experimental approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of new research projects, proposing innovative ideas and approaches.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to refine research strategies and methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, sharing insights and contributing expertise to achieve project goals.
  • Responsible for engaging with clients, understanding their needs, providing technical expertise, and ensuring effective communication to support project goals and solutions.
  • Present research findings through written reports, presentations, and scientific publications.
  • Engage in scientific discussions, conferences, and seminars to exchange ideas and expand knowledge.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior laboratory staff in experimental techniques and procedures.
  • Ensure high standards of quality and accuracy in all research activities.
  • Document experimental protocols, methods, and results meticulously for internal records and external sharing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, papers, and grant applications.
  • Stay current with relevant scientific literature and advancements in the field.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED

  • Proven experience in conducting laboratory research, with a strong record of scientific achievements.
  • Design and conduct cell-based assays, including qPCR, ELISA, Western blotting, and enzyme kinetics, to analyze gene expression, protein quantification, and enzymatic activity.
  • Utilize confocal microscopy, immunocytochemistry (ICC), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) for high-resolution imaging and protein localization in cells and tissues.
  • Perform plasmid design and molecular cloning for gene expression studies, ensuring efficient genetic modifications for research applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically evaluate data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a strong commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Experience with data analysis software, statistical tools, and programming languages is a plus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in related field, 2 – 5 yrs. Experience
  • Bachelors or Masters in related field, 5-10 yrs. experience
