The Coordinator, Visitor Experience for Citygarden oversees Terrace View and Citygarden programs. The Coordinator role is an internship experience for current St. Louis based students or recent graduates who reside within the St. Louis area. Citygarden, a project of the City of Saint Louis, funded by the Gateway Foundation, has carved out three acres in the heart of downtown and transformed them into an exhilarating urban oasis featuring modern and contemporary sculptures, lush landscape, reflecting pools, a cafe, and a playful spray plaza. You won’t find walls, fences, admissions fees or do not touch signs because at Citygarden, you are always free.
Gateway Foundation strives to enrich St. Louis life and culture by supporting efforts to acquire, create and improve tangible and durable art and urban design. The focus of Gateway Foundation is to foster and support cultural and artistic activities devoted to improving the quality of life for residents of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with Gateway Foundation Executive Director to identify program partners to build upon seasonal programming at Citygarden.
- Lead outreach to potential program partners to create a seasonal calendar of events.
- Serve as the point of contact for program partners and support day of program logistics.
- Learn and then work with program partners to adhere to programs and event-related policies, procedures and processes.
- Create social media posts and Update Citygarden website.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Demonstrated record of programming and special event management or interest in learning how to build programming and special events for a public park/ arts space.
- Proficiency in Google suite of products.
- Ability to work in both an indoor and outdoor environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Highly organized and motivated to build efficient systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to communicate with internal and external contacts and influence persons in all types of positions using a high degree of diplomacy.
- Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate scheduling and programming.
- Life-long learner willing to ask questions and understand new fields of work.
- Arts background through own pursuits or formal channels.
