Financial Accounting Intern (Summer 2026)
Description of Work
Are you a current college student (or recent graduate) interested in an accounting/finance internship for the Summer of 2025? If so, continue reading to learn more about this exciting opportunity with the Controller's Office of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.
Specific responsibilities include:
* Auditing various invoices for payment
* Reconciling various recurring payments
* Processing payment requests in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) accounting system
The selected intern will be responsible for:
* Successful completion of assigned projects
* Timeliness with completion of deadline driven tasks
* Responsiveness to information request from internal and external customers
* Completion of required trainings
The selected intern is expected to possess the following skills:
* Basic accounting knowledge
* Attention to detail
* Communication skills including the ability to communicate with all internal and external customers
* Problem solving
* Willingness to learn
This internship is expected to start on May 18, 2026 and continue through July 24, 2026. The work schedule is part-time (up to 30 hours per week), Monday -Friday. The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour.

Management Preferences
- Basic knowledge of accounting
- Must be currently enrolled in college or a recent college graduate. NOTE: "Recent" graduates are those who have graduated within the last 6 months.
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (or a recent graduate) in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
