Postbaccalaureate Cancer Research Program

Postbaccalaureate Program for individuals that have obtained their bachelor’s degree in a basic science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or health professions discipline and aspire to complete a doctoral degree in any STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) discipline or health professions to advance cancer research.

What & Why

To prepare and develop individuals to pursue careers in cancer research by providing professional development and cancer research experience.

Resources

  • Individual development plan (IDPs) and professional support services to prepare for a career in STEM research.
  • Technical skill building by working a specific project
  • Mentorship
  • On-site conference presentations and travel to scientific conferences
  • Other Services: test-taking preparation, childcare, housing, and tuition assistance are available as needed.

Students are paid approximately $35,776/year. Healthcare is also covered. This program is supported by the American Cancer Society Center for Innovation in Cancer Research Training.

Application Deadline: March 31, 2026

Duration: 2 years beginning June 1, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

  • Recent graduate from a university or college accredited in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a basic science, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or health professions.
  • Proof of citizenship or ability to work in the U.S. is required.

Medical screening, passing background checks and drug test prior to onboarding is also required.
