Social Media & Marketing Intern Adventure Travel Conservation Fund

About ATCF
Established in 2016, the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund is a community of travel-related companies who believe that small, targeted projects can make a big difference in conservation. Although lean, our organization has awarded over $800,000 dollars to some 53 projects. We have a membership of over 200 businesses in the travel and outdoor industries around the world including brands such as ATTA, Flickr, Eagle Creek, Backroads and Toad & Co.

Position Overview
We're seeking a creative and strategic individual to support ATCF's social media presence and marketing initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to build meaningful content that connects the adventure travel industry with grassroots conservation efforts, showcasing real impact while engaging diverse audiences across multiple platforms. While social media will be your primary focus, there may be opportunities to contribute to other marketing projects based on your interests and skills.
Working closely with our Engagement & Operations Manager, you'll help craft compelling stories about our funded projects, member companies, and conservation partners. You'll gain hands-on experience developing content strategies, creating engaging posts, and analyzing what resonates with our social media community.
This position is open until filled and start and end dates are flexible. A commitment of at least 4 months is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
Content Creation & Management
- Develop engaging social media content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn that highlights our funded conservation projects, member companies, and organizational impact
- Create graphics and visual assets using Canva that align with brand guidelines
- Schedule and publish content using social media management tools
Strategy & Community Engagement
- Assist with monthly content calendar development and monitor performance metrics
- Respond to comments and messages while building connections within the adventure travel and conservation communities
- Support member spotlights and partnership amplification efforts
Collaboration
- Participate in regular check-ins with the ATCF team
- Provide fresh perspectives and creative ideas for content and campaigns
Required Qualifications
- Strong writing skills with ability to craft engaging, authentic social media captions
- Proficiency in Canva for creating graphics and visual content
- Active user of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) with understanding of platform-specific best practices
- Strong working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets)
- Excellent visual sensibilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with remote team
- Passion for conservation, adventure travel, or nonprofit work
Preferred Qualifications
- Portfolio or examples demonstrating social media content creation or marketing work
- Experience supporting social media accounts for organizations, clubs, or personal projects
- Familiarity with social media management and scheduling tools
- Photo editing skills
- Understanding of social media analytics and metrics or willingness to learn
- Interest in working with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
