Temporary Transport Driver

Brightside Child and Family Advocacy is urgently hiring temporary drivers to support children in foster care during the DFCS pause on new service authorizations. Case managers are spending significant time transporting children rather than focusing on case management, and we're stepping in to help stabilize the system.

The role goes beyond driving. You'll be supervising children during transport, supporting their emotional safety, and ensuring every trip reflects Brightside's commitment to trauma-informed care, integrity, and compassion.

About Brightside

Our mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening and supporting healthy family relationships. Our team culture is grounded in support, honesty, high ethical standards, and valuing one another.

What You'll Do

  • Safely transport children and youth - often long distances and out of county - to visitation, court, and other required appointments.
  • Supervise children during transport, ensuring their physical and emotional safety
  • Use trauma-informed practices to build rapport and support youth during stressful transitions
  • Model positive communication and maintain professionalism at all times
  • Document trips and provide brief updates to Brightside staff as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold Brightside's values and culture
  • Occasionally drive during evenings or holidays (holiday travel paid at time and a half)

What We're Looking For

  • Flexibility in scheduling, including weekends
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
  • Comfort driving long distances and in the dark
  • Experience working with children or within the child welfare system
  • Ability to stay calm, patient, and supportive with youth who may have experienced trauma
  • Strong communication skills, good boundaries, and a commitment to child safety

Traits That Help You Thrive

  • High integrity and confidentiality
  • Collaborative, supportive team mindset
  • Willingness to take responsibility and accept feedback
  • Dedication to continuous improvement and mission-driven work

Position Details

  • Temporary, two-month role
  • $24 per hour
  • Scheduling varies based on transportation needs; flexbility is a major plus
  • All driving completed in Brightside vehicles

If you're dependable, compassionate, and ready to make an immediate impact for children during a critical moment in our community, we would love to talk with you. Your support helps keep kids safe, and allows DFCS case managers to focus on the work only they can do.
