Process Engineering Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION:

BYK Additives & Instruments is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of additives and measuring instruments. Around the world, the additives of BYK ensure that coatings and plastics precisely obtain the desired properties and the correct quality.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve steam trap testing and maintenance.  This need will reduce excess steam production and reduce CO2 production.   
  • Reduce water usage around Garamite plant homogenizers. 
  • Optimize filter press settings for reducing filter cake moisture content.  Reduced water content will reduce the amount of natural gas required to reduce water content in final product.  Reduced natural gas usage will reduce CO2 production. 
  • Leveraging knowledge of engineering ideas and concepts to work with the team to solve real world problems in the plant processes. 
  • Learn plant industrial safety rules and attend new employee MSHA safety training
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area

 

SKILLS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to apply engineering concepts for problem solving, technical support, and troubleshooting.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Work collaboratively with Process Engineers
  • Ability to work in a group environment or as part of a larger team
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and productively execute the projects with the support of supervisor 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently under supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship period.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
