Global Development and Innovation Microbiology Intern
The Coca-Cola’s Summer Internship program is a 10-week experience at our headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The Global Development and Innovation Microbiology Intern will be part of our North America R&D Center, working on projects that include microbiological lab activities to support our innovation Pipeline. These projects will involve working with carbonated and non-carbonated beverages, rapid microbiological methods and the development of models that predict behavior of microorganisms in beverage matrices.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities:
Predictive modeling and determination of cardinal values of spoilage organism growth in high acid beverages.
Exploring the microbiological sensitivity of different juice ingredients used in similar beverage formulations.
Learn about the micro hazards in formulated acid/high acid and acidified beverages.
Learn different manufacturing processes used at industrial scale including thermal and non-thermal processes to produce beverages.
Education Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in food science, Food Microbiology, Food Safety Microbiology, Food Engineering, or equivalent fields or have graduated from their degree program no earlier than December 2025.
Related Work Experience:
Food microbiology and Food Safety.
Thermal and non-thermal processes to produce food or beverages.
Microbiological Methods.
Experience managing digital tools or AI
Functional Skills:
Strong technical acumen and scientific approach.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to perform in a challenging, dynamic and changing environment.
Service minded, team player, high level of commitment.
Passionate with an aptitude to quickly learn.
Compensation:
Monthly Salary (undergraduate): $4,506
Location: Atlanta, GA
Dates of Internship: May 18 – July 31, 2026
