The Chicago Mosaic School (CMS) seeks an intern who is interested in the maintenance and operation of a fine art studio. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about the workings of a fine art studio as it functions as a shared space for classes and workshops. The intern will be responsible for maintenance of tools, materials, and work space. Training provided. Currently
enrolled in or recently graduated from a college degree program encouraged.
Duration: 12 weeks from determined start date
Hours: 6 hours a week. Hours flexible based on intern availability and CMS’s need.
Compensation: $17/hr
Qualifications:
● Strong interest in fine arts
● Hardworking, with an ability to take direction and desire to learn
● Good listener
● Ability to lift 30lbs
● 6 months of previous experience working in a fine art school or studio environment
● Bonus if the applicant has worked with glass before
Regular Duties:
● Sharpen and maintain tools
● Organization, sorting materials, sweeping, deep cleaning
● Assist CMS faculty and students
● Answer student questions about materials and tools
● Take on multiple repetitive tasks
● Special projects
This internship is intended to provide training in fine arts, specializing but not limited to, mosaic arts, and to provide experience in the field of non-profit work, an excellent resume builder for any person interested in a future career in the arts.

The Chicago Mosaic School will be investing in the training of their intern. In doing so, interns will be encouraged to take a complimentary Mosaic I 6-week course (once a week). This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of mosaic materials including, substrates, adhesives, tools etc. and provides a tactile hands-on experience in mosaic creation.
