Halibut Longline Deckhand
HALIBUT LONGLINE DECKHAND WANTED – HARD WORK
Looking for one dependable deckhand for commercial halibut longlining.
This is physically demanding deck work, not a tourist trip:
*Long days (12–16+ hrs)
*Cold, wet conditions on a moving vessel
*Repeated lifting, coiling, and hauling gear (50+ lbs)
*Setting and hauling longline gear, handling skates, weights, and hooks
*Bleeding, cleaning, icing, and stowing fish properly
Small crew. You must:
*Be able to work hard for long hours without complaining
*Pay attention around hooks, gear, and running equipment
*Handle fatigue, weather, and repetitive labor
*Take direction, work efficiently, and keep a positive attitude
*Show up on time and commit for the season
NOT light-duty work. NOT a deckhand-training vacation.
Experience helpful but not required. Background in fishing, deck work, sports, construction, or other labor-intensive jobs is a plus.
Pay is percentage-based. Food and bunk are provided onboard.
If you can’t lift heavy gear all day, work around hooks safely, or handle long hours, this isn’t the job for you.
