Equipment Engineering Intern
The Position
The Equipment Engineering Summer Intern will support Facilities Automation & Engineering at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals by contributing to projects that enhance the performance, reliability, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment. This internship offers hands-on exposure to engineering activities within a GMP manufacturing environment, including system testing, equipment improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern will work closely with engineers, facilities teams, and external vendors to support critical manufacturing operations.
This is an 11-week Summer Internship Program paying $21.00 per hour and requires full-time, onsite work five days per week at the designated location.
Responsibilities
- Support commissioning and qualification activities for manufacturing equipment
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to identify and implement improvements to manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with updating documentation and supporting the engineering change process within a GMP environment.
- Participate in cross-functional efforts to troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with repairs.
- Communicate project status and updates on ongoing repairs and engineering activities.
- Support multiple engineering teams in commissioning and qualification efforts across Verona manufacturing facilities.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled student at an accredited university or college, sophomore level or higher focused in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or similar.
- Demonstrated interest in engineering systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort presenting in group settings.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Willingness and ability to spend 75% of the workday in walking around the facility and 25% at a desk
Preferred
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, including Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), General Arrangement Drawings, and Control Wiring Drawings.
- Experience working with third-party vendors.
- Exposure to troubleshooting and resolving equipment-related challenges.
- Hands-on experience interacting with automated equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- Interest in working within a regulated GMP environment.
