Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Speech-Language Pathologist to serve as a Treating Supervisor at Preston Wood Pediatrics. This dual-role position combines direct clinical service delivery with supervisory responsibilities, providing mentorship and oversight to Clinical Fellows SLP's and SLPA's as well as graduate student interns while maintaining your own caseload of pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
The Treating Supervisor will provide comprehensive speech and language therapy services to infants and children with communication disorders, feeding and swallowing difficulties, and related developmental challenges. You'll simultaneously supervise and mentor SLPA's and graduate students in their clinical practicums, conducting regular observations and providing constructive feedback on assessment, treatment planning, and intervention strategies. This role involves modeling best practices in pediatric clinical decision-making, family-centered care, and documentation while ensuring supervises meet ASHA certification requirements and clinical competency standards. You'll maintain your own active pediatric caseload, balancing direct patient care with supervisory duties, and collaborate with our interdisciplinary team including pediatricians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and BCBAs to ensure comprehensive patient care. Additional responsibilities include completing required supervisory documentation, conducting performance evaluations, facilitating professional development opportunities for supervises, and staying current with evidence-based practices in pediatric speech-language pathology and ASHA supervision guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Current Texas state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
- Strong clinical skills across pediatric populations and communication disorders
- Excellent knowledge of ASHA supervision requirements and clinical certification standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisor experience preferred
- Specialty training in pediatric feeding/swallowing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Experience with early intervention services (birth to 3)

Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities, organizational skills to balance clinical and supervisory responsibilities, ability to make therapy engaging and developmentally appropriate for children, commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning, and the ability to provide constructive feedback in a supportive manner are essential.
Supervisory Responsibilities
You will provide direct supervision requiring observation and feedback for SLPA's and clinical fellowship students according to ASHA guidelines, evaluate and supervise performance and provide regular progress reports, create learning opportunities that promote clinical competency development in pediatric settings, and model ethical practice, professionalism, and family-centered care approaches.
