2026 Hospital Operations Intern

Hospital Operations Summer Internship Program

LIJ Valley Stream 2026

Dates: June 29th – August 7th, 2026

Summary:

As a rising sophomore or junior in college, the time is now to bring focus to your career path and develop the essential skills that will help you succeed after you graduate. If you have a strong interest in healthcare, this may be the internship for you.

During this 6-week paid summer internship, you’ll gain meaningful exposure to healthcare administration and clinical operations through a blend of department shadowing and project-based assignments. Interns rotate through key areas such as Financial Operations, Hospital Administration, Perioperative Services, Patient and Family Experience, Imaging Services, Nursing, Materials Operations, Advanced Care Practitioners, and Emergency Medicine, offering you the opportunity to see firsthand how diverse teams collaborate to support high quality patient care.

For students interested in clinical careers, the program also provides opportunities to observe clinical workflows, interact with frontline care teams, and explore how clinical and administrative functions intersect within a healthcare environment. Alongside these shadowing experiences, you will contribute to meaningful operational and strategic initiatives including process improvement efforts, developing or refining performance dashboards, analyzing financial and operational data, and more.

This program is ideal for students seeking a deeper understanding of how hospitals and healthcare departments operate, whether they aspire for careers in healthcare administration or clinical practice. Throughout the internship, you’ll work closely with leaders across the organization, observe day-to-day management and clinical operations, and contribute to projects that make a tangible impact on patient care and system performance.
