Protest Cameraperson
Pay: $50/hour
Location: New York City, all around Manhattan
Hours: Very flexible, protests happen any time.
Description:
I’m an independent journalist with 800K followers on Instagram (natefriedman_), looking for a reliable cameraperson to help film on-the-ground coverage at protests in NYC.
You’ll be responsible for capturing clean, steady footage of interviews, crowd reactions, signs, and general B-roll while events unfold in real time.
Responsibilities:
-Film interviews and footage at public protests
-Capture clear B-roll (crowds, signs, atmosphere, interactions)
-Follow simple shot direction in fast-moving environments
-Maintain steady framing and good audio awareness
-Stay alert and professional in public settings
Requirements:
-Comfortable filming in crowded public spaces
-Able to stay calm and focused in loud or chaotic environments
-Basic understanding of framing and camera movement
-Reliable and punctual
-Must be okay working around protests
Equipment:
You don't need to bring anything, we'll use an Iphone 17 with a gimbal
Nice to Have (Not Required):
Interest in film
Prior experience with street interviews or documentary work
Interest in current events or reporting
Compensation:
-$50/hour
-Paid per shoot
-Opportunity for repeat work if it’s a good fit
