Mechanical Designer

POSITION SUMMARY
UTI is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 3–5 years of experience to support engineering and facility design projects. This role will focus heavily on AutoCAD Plant 3D for the development of mechanical and piping layouts, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and orthographic details for natural gas pipeline facilities. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D for site-related design tasks.
You’ll collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and other technical staff to produce high-quality mechanical designs and contribute to the full lifecycle of pipeline facility projects—from concept through construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop detailed mechanical and piping designs using AutoCAD Plant 3D
· Create and maintain P&IDs, 3D piping models, isometric drawings, and orthographic layouts
· Generate bills of material and ensure alignment with UTI standards
· Support site layout and survey base plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D as needed
· Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, survey, GIS, and permitting
· Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of CAD standards and workflows
· Assist in project documentation and support construction teams during implementation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the natural gas or industrial piping sector
· Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping components, and facility layouts
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
· Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate’s or Technical Degree in Mechanical Design, CAD Technology, or related field
· Accreditation or certification in CAD or mechanical design
· Familiarity with pipeline industry codes and standards
· Knowledge of other AutoDesk software (e.g. NavisWorks)
