Engineering Internship
Summary: Under the guidance of technicians, project managers, or engineers, interns will support our teams across a spectrum of projects and tasks, acquiring practical experience and insight into real-world engineering methodologies. The internship provides a platform to translate academic learning into tangible applications and play a role in tailored technical solutions. Responsibilities include aiding in fieldwork, drafting proposals and researching design materials, conducting assessments, executing tests, assisting with construction administration, and assisting with quality assurance. The role offers exposure to diverse tasks to enrich the intern's expertise and skill set.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collect field data for use in various aspects of the project including proposals, designs, testing and assessments. Field data collection may consist of obtaining photographs, preparing sketches of conditions, preparing field drawings, documenting visual observations and general notes, identifying and documenting construction types, obtaining measurements, general notes including construction type, and details of existing conditions. Data collection is done under general guidance of technicians, project managers or engineers.
- Assist with assessments and investigations. Duties may include assembly of testing apparatuses, performing, and repairing destructive openings in roofing and wall systems, performing testing, carrying tools/ladders, and other physical tasks.
- Assist with preparing reports, proposals, design documents and presentations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Eagerness to learn and collaborate in a team environment.
- Have a general knowledge of project specifications, drawings, submittals and other documentation.
- Ability to conduct research and gather data to support project team members.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
- Word processing skills.
- Autocad skills.
Education and Training:
- Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.
Work Experience:
- No experience required, previous work experience preferred with previous engineering experience a plus.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate lifting (approximately 50 pounds maximum).
- Stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Climb ladders
- Work is primarily outside.
- Drive up to 8 hours a day (4 hours each way).
