2026 Pharmacy Intern (PharmD)

AbbVie Endocrinology Inc., an AbbVie-owned company, is licensed as a specialty mail-order pharmacy to provide services to all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Services include dispensing of, maximizing patient access for, and providing reimbursement HUB services for AbbVie specialty medications: 

  • Investigation/explanation of a patient’s insurance benefits for specialty drug coverage 
  • Explanation of financial aid options 
  • AbbVie’s Patient Assistance Program 
  • Product Replacement Program 
  • AbbVie specialty products supported include Lupron Depot, Skyrizi, Rinvoq, Humira, and Duopa 

The Pharmacy Operations department is responsible for the intake and review of prescription orders and the safe practice of dispensing medications, following all applicable state and federal rules for the practice of pharmacy. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Work with preceptor(s) and stakeholders to become knowledgeable with all pharmacy roles and products including, but not limited to: 

  • Related disease states  
  • Patient medication counseling 
  • Error reduction, particularly around medication errors 
  • Operational efficiencies 
  • Organize, manage, and complete projects, which may include, but is not limited to: 
    • Gathering and collating data
    • Composing/creating reports, articles and presentations 

Other activities include: 

  • Rotation through several core areas of practice; time spent in each area will be tailored to meet individual interests 
  • Participation in patient care activities through observing/assisting the pharmacists and taking part in related projects 
  • Attendance of pharmacy management meetings, staff meetings, and student case presentations 
  • Completion of at least one major project and will conduct a related presentation during the last week(s) of the internship; additional presentations may also be assigned 
  • Several minor projects will also be assigned and completed during the internship


 

Qualifications


 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PharmD 
  • Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027 
  • Experience in a community retail setting 
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills 
  • Ability to take initiative
