Automotive CAD Designer

CAD Designer – Automotive Components

Location: Troy, Michigan
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time CAD Designer to join our team in Troy, Michigan, supporting the design and development of automotive components. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-career designer with hands-on experience using Unigraphics (Siemens) NX and a strong interest in automotive product development.

Key Responsibilities

Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using Unigraphics NX

Support the design and development of automotive components from concept through production

Apply GD&T principles and industry standards to component designs

Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to support product development

Incorporate design changes based on engineering feedback, testing results, and manufacturing requirements

Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control

Assist with design reviews and technical problem-solving efforts

Qualifications

1–5 years of CAD design experience, preferably in the automotive industry

Proficiency with Unigraphics (Siemens) NX

Experience designing mechanical or automotive components

Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment

Education

College degree preferred (Associate or Bachelor’s)

Engineering degree strongly preferred (Mechanical Engineering or related discipline)

Preferred Skills

Exposure to automotive product development processes

Familiarity with manufacturing methods such as machining, stamping, casting, or injection molding

Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
