With a multicultural and multilingual staff, AI Justice serves clients from around the world and is recognized nationally for its advocacy, impact litigation, and community partnerships.
Internship Overview
The Project Intern: Immigrants in the Arts is a learning-focused, unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on exposure to nonprofit advocacy, arts-based partnerships, and communications strategy. This internship emphasizes training, mentorship, and professional development, and is intended to complement an intern’s academic or career interests.
The intern will work under the close supervision of AI Justice staff and will gain practical experience in research, creative collaboration, outreach, and campaign support within a nonprofit setting.
Learning Objectives & Responsibilities
Under staff guidance, the intern will have the opportunity to:
Learn how nonprofit organizations identify and research potential artist and community collaborations
Support the evaluation of potential partnerships for alignment with organizational mission and campaign goals
Gain exposure to nonprofit communications, marketing, and outreach strategies
Assist with drafting content for campaigns and promotional materials
Lear about and support basic graphic design or visual content development
Learn and practice introductory video editing or multimedia storytelling techniques
Support event planning and coordination related to partnerships and campaigns
Develop professional communication skills through supervised outreach and follow-up efforts
Learn how nonprofit teams manage multiple projects and timelines
Qualifications
This internship is ideal for students or early-career individuals who are interested in nonprofit work, arts advocacy, or communications. The ideal candidate will:
Be eager to learn and able to work under supervision
Have strong written and verbal communication skills
Possess basic computer and word-processing skills
Have an interest in the arts, social justice, or immigrant rights
Experience or coursework in graphic design, video editing, or social media
Proficiency in additional languages is a plus
