What You’ll Do

Implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher

Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment

Support student learning and positive behavior

Collaborate with school staff as needed during assignments

Who Can Apply?

Ohio offers multiple pathways to qualify as a substitute teacher. You may be eligible if you hold a post-secondary degree in:

Education (Education Degree – Unlimited Substitute License)

A specific subject area (e.g., Math, English, Science)

Any other field (e.g., Business, Communications, Criminal Justice, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Economics, and more – General Substitute License)
