Position title: Harbor Centre Intern Position (in conjunction with NEH Intern Grant via Lakeland U)

Reports to: Harbor Centre Member Services Manager

Work status: 5-10 hours per week

FLSA status: Non-Exempt

 

Position Overview:

The Harbor Centre Intern position will support the Harbor Centre Member Services Manager with the competencies of Marketing, Professional Writing/Writing, Communication and English via the following tasks: 

  • “Meet the Member” social media features (produce 12 in total)
  • Event promotion materials (both print and digital)
  • Pre-event detail coordination

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the Harbor Centre Member Services Manager.     
  • Foster relationships with community members, employers, and participants.
  • Collaborate with additional Chamber staff as required.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Must be a collaborative team player with a service-oriented mindset.
  • A valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle are required for travel within the county.

  • Occasionally carrying and lifting 0-50 pounds, repetitive hand movement, reading, writing, reasoning/analyzing, and social interaction
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Power Point, Excel and Canva.
  • Preferred experience with WordPress.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential Chamber member information.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, spelling and proper word usage.
  • Must have a working knowledge of a personal computer and other general office equipment.
  • Good organizational skills and be able to complete jobs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to create a good impression of the Chamber.

  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and multi-task several projects with regular interruptions. 
  • Ability to work in an open office environment with minimal privacy. 
  • Must be able to work occasional nights as necessary to attend events or to work at events as needed. 
  • Expected to be present and available during normal office hours for a total of between 5-10 hours per week as business needs dictate.
  • Some work is detailed, requiring reading, scanning, proofreading, and using either a computer monitor or paper copies.
