Archival Program Intern

Internship Overview

As an intern at Hunt Alternatives, you will gain valuable hands-on experience by working alongside industry professionals in a dynamic setting. This opportunity will allow you to apply your academic knowledge, develop essential practical skills, and receive personalized mentorship that will help you shape your future career goals. 

 

Overarching Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation of communication materials, including invitations and briefing documents 
  • Create content and manage the distribution for our internal newsletter
  • Conduct research and draft reports on a variety of topics supporting the foundation’s initiatives. These topics include but are not limited to our most successful programs (Inclusive Security, Demand Abolition, ArtWorks for Kids, Political Parity, and others)   
  • Draft meeting minutes and event debriefs, referred to as memorandums of conversation
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing projects in various capacities
  • Provide general administrative support to the Hunt Alternatives team and Ambassador Hunt as needed

     

Program Structure

 

The primary focus of this internship is the Embedding Program, an initiative dedicated to preserving and organizing Ambassador Swanee Hunt’s extensive body of work in diplomacy, international affairs, women’s leadership, and peacebuilding. This program is ideal for students studying international affairs, political science, public policy, or related fields who are interested in the intersection of global policy, historical documentation, and women’s leadership. 

The intern will work closely with the Senior Advisor and Embedding Specialist to support the ongoing archival process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review physical documents related to Ambassador Hunt’s international work and sorting them chronologically
  • Organize materials into archival boxes and drafting clear, accurate descriptions for each box
  • Create regular meeting minutes for the “Archival Meeting” 
  • Support the development of a structured archival system that preserves decades of diplomatic, philanthropic, and policy-related work
  • Gain exposure to historical materials connected to global women’s leadership, conflict resolution, and international policy

 

In addition to archival responsibilities, the intern will assist the Program Manager with research and materials that support a range of Hunt Alternatives programs, depending on organizational needs. These may include initiatives related to women’s political leadership, peacebuilding, global security, philanthropy, or social justice. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research to support program priorities and ongoing projects
  • Assisting with the preparation of briefing materials for events and meetings, including host bios and talking points for Ambassador Hunt
  • Supporting the development of written summaries, background notes, and other program-related documents
  • Contributing to cross-program coordination and communications as needed

 

Capstone Project

Throughout the internship, the intern will complete a final project determined in collaboration with the Program Manager. The project will:

 

  • Align with organizational needs
  • Be developed over the course of the internship
  • Conclude with a presentation to the Hunt Alternatives staff
