The Public Information and Engagement section of the Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works (also known as Live Green Lexington) is seeking to hire event staff to assist our team in hosting special events and participating in community events.
Event staff will work closely with the Community Outreach Team to assist in prepping for, setting up, staffing, and breaking down at events.
This is a flexible, part-time position. Weekend/evening availability is required. Availability for at least two 3-hour shifts during business hours (anytime between 7am-5pm) during the week is required as well.
Work will take place at the Phoenix Building, 101 East Vine Street and at various event sites.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Tabling and events: staff as needed/required. Evening and weekend work is required.
- Load and unload event and tabling supplies.
- Maintain, clean and organize event supplies.
- Transport education and outreach trailers to events and K-12 schools.
- Assemble new homeowner and apartment packets.
- Collect materials related to special partner collections (e.g., campaign signs, holiday lights, etc.)
- Distribute promotional materials (posters, handbills) to partner locations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work outdoors and complete physically demanding tasks.
- A valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record (no major violations)
- Comfort driving large vehicles (cargo van and pickup truck) or willingness to learn.
- Ability to tow a trailer safely (preferred) or a willingness to learn.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work and effectively communicate with staff.
- Self-directed team player who gets things done.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays to meet work objectives.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and pre-employment screening (drug and alcohol testing).

Pay: $16 per hour minimum

You will be required to work at least 85% of the following evening/weekend events. Weekday availability (at least two days a week for three hours minimum) is also required for prep and post work. Hired staff will be expected to hold these dates and give notice at least two-months in advance for events they must miss. Please do not apply if you cannot meet this expectation.
