About The Word Among Us
The Word Among Us is a mission-driven nonprofit publisher serving more than 600,000 print and an additional 1 million digital subscribers. We publish the largest Catholic devotional in North America and are actively modernizing our digital platforms, systems, and operations to better serve our readers and grow our reach. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real production systems, real data, and real strategic decisions - not simulated exercises.
Internship Overview
We are seeking two Operations & Technology Analyst Interns to support high-impact initiatives spanning technology, analytics, and organizational operations. Interns will work closely with senior leadership on projects that directly support how our websites, apps, and internal systems operate at scale.
This role is ideal for students who enjoy problem-solving, systems thinking, and understanding how organizations actually work behind the scenes.
What You’ll Do
Technology & Systems:
- Research and evaluate software platforms currently used by the organization
- Compare alternative tools and document strengths, gaps, and use cases
- Support analysis related to system migrations, integrations, and automation opportunities
Analytics & Insights:
- Review website and mobile app performance trends
- Assist in organizing and interpreting data to support growth and engagement decisions
- Help translate data findings into clear, actionable insights for leadership
Operations Mapping:
- Document real-world workflows across teams and systems
- Identify friction points caused by manual processes or system limitations
- Create clear diagrams and documentation used to guide future improvements
Strategy & Special Projects:
- Assist in developing a “flywheel” strategy connecting content, technology, engagement, and subscriptions
- Contribute to a focused special project aligned with your interests (technology, analytics, or operations)

Commitment & Structure
- Two interns selected
- $23-$25/hour, non-exempt. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits and does not include additional compensation beyond hourly wages.
- Part-time, project-based work (approximately 10 hours per week for 12 weeks; hours may vary by week).
- Flexible scheduling designed to accommodate academic commitments
- Remote or hybrid options depending on location
- Interns will work on clearly defined projects with guidance and support, while also gaining experience navigating real-world ambiguity in a supportive environment.
