Audience & Distribution Editor

Audience & Distribution Editor (Founder-Track, Equity-Based)

Important Disclaimer: Note: This is not a salaried position at this time. Compensation will be equity-based, with specific terms to be negotiated later.

Summary: GK Global News is seeking an Audience & Distribution Editor to ensure our journalism effectively reaches and engages readers, while upholding our editorial principles. In this role, you will focus on how our content is presented and delivered across various platforms. This includes optimizing headlines and story packaging for search engines (SEO) and social media, managing newsletters and other distribution channels, and analyzing audience engagement metrics. Your goal will be to grow our readership and deepen engagement without sacrificing the integrity or accuracy of our reporting. You’ll work at the intersection of editorial and audience strategy, coordinating with the newsroom as well as any marketing/outreach efforts. As part of the founding team, this position is equity-compensated (no salary initially), and it offers the opportunity to shape a key aspect of our growth strategy. Equity terms will be finalized upon joining.

Time: We anticipate a part-time commitment (approximately 10–20 hours per week) for this role, with flexibility in scheduling to monitor and respond to audience trends. There is no strict schedule; however, you may need to align with content publication times for maximum impact. The role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the U.S., and hybrid work in New York or Boston is an option if preferred.

Scope / Ownership: You will have ownership of audience engagement and distribution strategies for GK Global News’s content. Your decisions on headlines, timing, and channel strategy will significantly affect how widely and effectively our stories are read. While working within ethical guidelines and in collaboration with editorial leadership (to ensure content integrity), you will be empowered to experiment with and refine the ways we connect with our audience. This role gives you a strong influence on the growth and reach of our platform, though major strategic and organizational decisions remain collaborative and subject to leadership approval.

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize article headlines, summaries, and formatting for SEO and social media to maximize visibility and readership.
  • Manage the production and distribution of newsletters and other content delivery channels (e.g. email updates, push notifications).
  • Analyze audience data and engagement metrics (page views, read time, newsletter open rates, social media interactions, etc.) to inform editorial and distribution decisions.
  • Coordinate with the editorial team and any marketing/outreach teams to align content promotion with our editorial calendar and mission.
  • Develop and uphold ethical audience-growth practices, ensuring that traffic and engagement tactics do not compromise editorial integrity or trust.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of digital audience analytics tools and content distribution platforms (e.g. experience with SEO best practices, social media management, newsletter systems).
  • Strong editorial judgment to balance audience appeal with journalistic standards.
  • Experience in growing and engaging audiences for media or content platforms, with a track record of using data-driven strategies.

Compensation: Equity-based compensation only; there is no base salary for this role in our startup phase. If you join the team, an equity stake in the company will serve as compensation, with terms to be negotiated and agreed upon. All equity arrangements are contingent on company performance and will be documented officially when granted.

IP & Confidentiality: All strategies, plans, and content you develop for audience engagement and distribution at GK Global News will be considered work-for-hire and the intellectual property of GK Media Group. (You will sign an IP assignment agreement to confirm this.) You may access sensitive information, such as unpublished content or proprietary audience data, and it is imperative that you keep such information confidential. An NDA will be executed during your onboarding to reinforce this obligation.
