Program Overview
The 2026 Summer Nutrition & Dietetics Internship in Ghana provides students and recent graduates with hands-on, supervised experience in clinical and community nutrition at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Interns will bridge academic theory with real-world applications in public health, pediatric nutrition, and specialized dietetics.
Participants will work closely with registered dietitians to develop, implement, and monitor nutrition interventions, contribute to patient care, and engage in community health programs. This internship offers an immersive experience in healthcare delivery in Ghana and is ideal for students pursuing studies in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related fields.
Internship Responsibilities
Interns may participate in:
• Observing and assisting dietitians and nutritionists in clinical and outpatient settings
• Conducting nutritional assessments and supporting diet planning
• Participating in patient counseling and education
• Engaging in community nutrition programs and health awareness campaigns
• Documenting interventions and tracking patient progress
• Assisting with therapeutic meal preparation under supervision
• Learning about hospital nutrition policies, protocols, and standards of patient care
Responsibilities may vary depending on current hospital projects and the intern’s academic background.
Professional Placement Experience
Participants gain practical exposure through supervised engagement with clinical and community health programs, including:
• Hands-on mentorship by licensed dietitians and nutritionists

Professional Supervision & Mentorship
Interns participating in the Nutrition & Dietetics Internship receive structured supervision and mentorship from qualified nutrition and healthcare professionals at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana.
Interns will be mentored by Juliana Yeboah, Registered Dietitian and Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department. Under her guidance and that of the department’s professional team, interns gain exposure to clinical nutrition practices, patient dietary assessments, therapeutic diet planning, and hospital nutrition services.
Interns may observe nutritional consultations, learn about therapeutic diet planning, participate in nutrition education activities, and gain insight into the role of dietitians in patient care and public health nutrition.
The Pro-Passion Projects team provides program orientation, regular check-ins, and ongoing support to ensure interns receive structured feedback, mentorship, and meaningful professional development throughout the internship.
This structured supervision ensures participants gain valuable experience in clinical and community nutrition while developing professional and cross-cultural healthcare skills.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the program, interns will:

Accommodation and Cultural Experience
Participants stay with carefully selected local host families in Accra, providing an authentic cultural experience.
Accommodation includes:
• Private or shared room within a host family home
• Three daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
• Opportunity to learn about Ghanaian culture, traditions, and daily life
Host family accommodation allows interns to experience local life while remaining close to their internship placement.
Program Fee
The program fee is USD $1,600 for a 4-week internship.
This fee covers:
• Internship placement and coordination
• Professional supervision and mentoring
• Host family accommodation in Accra
• Three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
• Airport pickup and arrival support
• Program orientation and cultural introduction
• Coordination of learning experiences and community engagement
• Local support throughout the internship
• Certificate of completion
Not Included
Participants are responsible for:
• International flights to Ghana
• Visa and travel insurance
• Personal expenses
• Optional travel or weekend excursions
• Any academic credit fees charged by their university
Eligibility
Applicants should meet one of the following:
• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
• Recent graduate
• Academic background or strong interest in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related fields
No prior international experience is required.
