Theatre: Choreographer

Located in the beautiful Adirondacks, Point O’Pines Camp for Girls is looking for a Chorographer lead to join our creative theatre team in our camp community. 

The Theatre Choreographer leads the movement and dance components of the camp's performing arts program. This role focuses on creating accessible, high-energy choreography for musical productions while guiding campers of all ages through the process of physical storytelling and performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and teach original dance routines for camp musicals and plays.
  • Assist in auditions and lead dance rehearsals, ensuring an inclusive and positive environment for campers of all skill levels.
  • Teach fundamental dance techniques, stage presence, and movement skills during workshops and daily sessions.
  • Partner with the Theatre Director and music staff to ensure movement aligns with the show's vision and musical score.
  • Foster teamwork and build campers' self-expression and confidence through the art of dance.
  • Support camp-wide events, evening activities, and other operational duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

  • Prior experience in dance instruction or choreography, preferably working with children or in a camp setting.
  • Strong teaching skills and the ability to inspire young performers with enthusiasm.
