Part Time Student - Manufacturing Engineering - Davenport, IA (115788)
As a Factory Part Time Student - Manufacturing Engineering at John Deere Davenport Works located in Davenport, IA you will support manufacturing planning and process control activities for Davenport Works fabrication production departments. This role will include a wide variety of tasks in support of our manufacturing objectives and leverage your previous job/internships/experiences building upon the skills obtained within your accredited degree program. In addition, you will:
- Support daily operations by responding to tactical issues in a shop floor environment.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) process on the shop floor – improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, Ergonomic, & Cost reduction projects
- Works with electronic tools to perform engineering functions.
- Assist in investigations and corrective actions and leverage innovative ideas to best address long standing manufacturing issues

What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in the following: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at an accredited college/university.
- Graduation date of December 2026 or later.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
- Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.
- Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly.
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Davenport, Iowa on a daily basis year-round
- An effective communicator who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment
- Experience demonstrating technical aptitude in an Engineering discipline
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, mistake proofing or digital process control tools
- A self-starter with the ability to execute multiple tasks in parallel
- Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize trend data to make sound decisions
What Makes You Stand Out
- Demonstrable mechanical aptitude or familiarity and ability work within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with drawing and schematic interpretation, product models and /or geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience with software programming languages and/or ML familiarity
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: electrical, software programming, troubleshooting, design, and manufacturing
- Manufacturing Factory hands on experience
- SAP experience
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong communication skills with experience solving technical problems
$15 - $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
