Cody Firearms Museum Intern
10 Week internship. $14/hour with a $1,000 housing stipend.
Summary: The Cody Firearms Museum is seeking an Intern for the Summer of 2026 to support the activities of the CFM staff and to work on museum projects. This position will support visitor engagement during the summer, as well as handling and cataloging artifacts, preparing exhibit rotations, and support CFM representation at the Winchester Arms Collectors Association show.
Job Duties: • Working with CFM staff to conduct inventory related tasks and catalog artifacts as needed • Developing content with CFM staff for future exhibit rotations • Assist with visitor inquiries • Completing research projects as assigned • Assisting CFM staff with preparing content and posting to social channels
Competencies: • Ability to remain professional with diverse audiences and communities • Ability to work well with others • Willingness to learn and practice safe handling of artifacts to include firearms • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software • Organizational and time management skills • Discretion and good judgment • Good written and oral communication and research skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision •
Supervisory Responsibilities: • None
Required Education and Experience: • Currently enrolled or recently completed coursework in history, archives, public history, or related field at the undergraduate or graduate level • Firearms knowledge is helpful but not required
