Activities and Campus Events (ACE) President
Role Description
The President is an Activities and Campus Events (ACE) Executive Board position. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to facilitating Executive Board meetings, assisting the ACE Executive Board and ACE members with planning their events as needed, overseeing the student group/departmental collaboration interest form, providing a support system for all members, assisting the Advising Team in managing the group dynamic, utilizing assessment tools to collect and understand data, sending out Executive Board communication, and biweekly or monthly 1:1s with all other positions.
TIME COMMITMENTS
The ACE President must hold five (5) office hours per week. Please note that events and ACE meetings do not count as office hours. This position is also expected to attend and participate in weekly ACE Executive Board meetings, general body meetings, weekly 1:1s with their advisor, ACE events, and regularly scheduled 1:1 meetings with other executive members.
COMPENSATION
In return for satisfactory performance, the ACE President receives a stipend of $1,875 per year disbursed in nine (9) monthly installments from August to April.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS
General Executive Board Responsibilities and Expectations
- ACE Executive Board members are required to maintain a 2.5 GPA to remain in good standing and maintain eligibility for ACE Executive Roles. GPA checks will occur at the end of every semester.
- Hold five (5) consistent office hours per week.
- Participate in self-evaluation discussions with the ACE Advising team.
- Adhere to the ACE constitution and By-Laws, including mandatory attendance at general body meetings, and Executive Board meetings.
- Abide by the UNCG Student Code of Conduct.
- Consistently consider ACE’s role in being good stewards of allocated Student Fee Dollars in planning programs that represent the entirety of UNCG’s student body.
- Serve as a leader and a positive role model for fellow ACE members and the UNCG community.
- Meet on a weekly basis with an assigned member of the ACE Advising Team.
- Serve as an ambassador for ACE.
- Every ACE Executive Member is required to attend at least two events per semester other than their own as volunteers to support the work of ACE peer leaders.
- Actively participate in any ACE retreats and/or training.
- Be consistently on time and prepared for meetings.
- Follow required timelines and requirements for ACE event planning processes and procedures.
- Follow all event and crisis management protocols outlined by advising team.
- Represent Campus Activities and Programs through involvement and volunteering at specific requested university wide events and initiatives.
- Communicate openly with ACE advising team.
President Responsibilities and Expectations
- Serve as the external representative of ACE at University and Community Programs.
- Maintain regular communication with the executive board, general body, community partners, etc.
- Preside over weekly ACE Executive Board meetings.
- Attend weekly 1:1 meetings with CAP's Coordinator for Programming.
- Hold weekly 1:1’s with Vice President, and biweekly 1:1s with all ACE Executive Members.
- Provide assistance to all ACE positions in event planning.
- Oversee that ACE collaboration process including form management, communication with cross campus collaborators, assign collaborations to ACE Executive members, and oversee collaboration expectations.
- Provide support for ACE Executive Board and General body through consistent connection and relationship building.
- Alongside the Advising Team, consider the development opportunities and needs of the ACE Executive Board and design training, identify resources, and build opportunities for growth.
- Utilizing direction from the advising team, provide feedback and direction to the ACE Executive Board regarding congruence with the Spartan Experience Model.
- Maintain data records for ACE to be utilized for future growth.
- Participate in visioning for the future of ACE by regularly reviewing ACE offerings in collaboration with the Advising Team.
- Plan at least one group service project for the entire ACE organization to participate in each semester.
- Oversee the ACE office space in the EUC including organization and cleanliness, office hours of executive members, ACE initiatives out of the Office space such as event promotion, drop-in hours, ticket sales etc.
- Alongside the Vice President, serve as a moderator for all ACE communication avenues
- Alongside the Advising Team, provide oversight of the ACE budget.
- Alongside the Advising Team, ensure that all ACE events/programs follow consistent inclusivity and accessibility standards.
- Lead and manage special projects as assigned in collaboration with the ACE advising team to advance the mission and purpose of the ACE organization.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience within ACE as an organization is preferred.
- Must be a current undergraduate student.
- Previous experience with project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate consistently with multiple parties.
- Well developed time management skills.
- Proficiency with programs like the Microsoft Office Suite, Google programs, and/or Canva.
- Candidates should ensure their actions, language, and behavior reflect the university’s values.
