Program & Operations Intern

Community Welfare Foundation (CWF) Internship

Title: CWF Program & Operations Intern
Reports To: Executive Administrator
Location: Hybrid (Fairfax, VA – in-person as needed)
Time Commitment: 10–15 hours per week
Duration: Through August 31, 2026
Compensation: Unpaid (mentorship available, and we are willing to work with a student to receive academic credit)

About the Community Welfare Foundation

The Community Welfare Foundation (CWF) is a Northern Virginia–based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Pakistani Americans and broader immigrant communities in the DC Metro area through education, employment readiness, mentorship, and community connection. CWF provides culturally responsive programs such as ESL workshops, mentorship initiatives, and access to a community resource portal to help immigrants thrive personally and professionally.

Position Overview

The CWF Intern will play an integral role in the daily operations, marketing, and program management of a growing nonprofit organization. Working directly under the guidance and mentorship of the Executive Administrator, the intern will gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, communications, and community outreach while helping implement CWF’s strategic plan and Fall 2025–Summer 2026 programming.

This is an ideal opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students — or anyone exploring a career in nonprofit management, community development, higher education, or social impact leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative & Operations Support

Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and maintaining student and mentor records.

Help streamline internal systems, registration processes, and intake documentation.

Support event planning and logistics for ESL classes, mentoring sessions, and community showcases.

Program Management

Coordinate participant communication and maintain program calendars.

Assist in tracking attendance, progress, and evaluation data for ESL and mentoring programs.

Contribute to writing and updating program materials, reports, and promotional content.

Marketing & Communications

Create social media content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) highlighting programs and success stories.

Draft newsletters, flyers, and email campaigns to engage students, mentors, and donors.

Maintain consistency with CWF’s brand voice and mission across all communications.

Community Outreach

Research and connect with local organizations, cultural centers, and faith-based institutions.

Help identify and engage potential volunteers, mentors, and program participants.

Represent CWF at community events and partner meetings when possible.

Skills & Qualifications

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Interest in immigrant and community-based initiatives.

Experience or coursework in nonprofit management, communications, education, or related fields preferred.

Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive); experience with Canva or social media tools a plus.

Self-motivated and collaborative; comfortable working in a small, mission-driven team.

Professional Development & Mentorship

Interns will receive direct mentorship from a nonprofit and higher education leader with 20+ years of experience in strategy, community engagement, and academic leadership. The internship emphasizes professional growth, networking, and real-world application of skills.
