Athletic Training Internship (Summer '26)

For Summer '26 A.S.E. Global Bridges (ASE) offers an immersive Athletic Training internship opportunity( 6-week)  for qualified students with interest in performing arts to support elite young dancers taking part in its acclaimed John Cranko School Summer Intensive and the International Contemporary Masters Workshop

Take part in supporting the training regimen of elite dancers (ages 9-15 years old) and the related challenges/issues/needs which arise during their intensive training program. Interns will be exposed to treatment plans and injury prevention practices of Program’s Athletic Trainers (ATs) as well as Program’s long-term cooperation with NYU Langone Medical Center Medical School’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.

Interns will work under the supervision of experienced ATs within the following guidelines/responsibilities:

  • Will be introduced to the diverse orthopedic conditions/issues related to dance training and within the youth ages 9-15 through detailed review of medical and training modification forms.
  • Documenting assessments/treatments rendered to in the electronic medical software (EMR).
  • Demonstrating therapeutic and injury preventive exercises or stretches as requested by ATs.
  • May be asked to remove modalities such as e-stim or heat placed on a dancer / prepare cold bath or cold pack for dancers as requested ATs.
  • Being the liaison with the ATs and Registered Nurses for implementing and overseeing Program’s Head Impact Protocol.
  • Accompanying/driving dancers with any orthopedic concerns for off-site professional evaluation and treatment.
  • Assisting dancers in adhering to Program’s Pain Identification and Communication Protocol, developed jointly with the NYU Medical Center Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.
  • Will be educated by Program on its protocols for monitoring and addressing weight and eating related issues.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned based on the evaluation by the AT of intern’s training and capabilities.
  • Will work closely with Program’s licensed medical team members in supporting a healthy environment within the most current, campus-wide health protocols.
  • Assisting ATs and Program Directors as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Completion of 1 year an accredited university's Master of Science in Athletic Training (Graduate Program)
  • Clean automobile driving record and comfort driving others, including minors. (car will be provided by the program)
  • Commitment for the full program period 6/29 - 8/8/26 in a Resident Status (6/29-6/30 Virtual training, 7/1 Travel day, starting 7/2 on-campus), Housing (single, A/C room in a dormitory with dancers and other staff) & Meals provided.
