Civil Structural Engineering Intern

Civil/structural engineering summer internship position (working under the direction of a Senior Engineer) focusing on the performance of relatively routine activities and tasks related to the design of high voltage substations (15kV to 500kV).
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
- Performs design of reinforced concrete foundations and metal substation structures.
- Prepares engineering deliverables such as calculations, reports and specifications.
- Performs routine research and develops recommendations for Construction methods and/or materials selection.
- Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
- Prepares calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
- Works with designers and drafters to guide the development of drawings.
Desired Education, Experience and Training
- Civil Engineering student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with coursework in structural design and analysis.
- Computer proficiency required as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with MathCAD, STADD, L- Pile (or similar engineering software) preferred.
- Accuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Able to obtain own housing for the summer if not currently residing locally.
