Summer News Reporting Internship-Bismarck, ND

The Bismarck Tribune located in North Dakota’s capital city is seeking applicants for a full-time10 week paid internship over the summer in 2026.  

The successful candidate will get hands-on reporting experience covering a variety of beats. Past interns have covered breaking news, written features and researched in-depth enterprise stories. Some have also branched into sports.

Previous experience with a student newspaper or other writing-related internship is preferred but not required.

The position is based in Bismarck, the state’s second-largest city. Bismarck and neighboring Mandan are along the Missouri River with miles of trails for outdoor recreation along with a growing food and culture scene. The region also offers prime hunting and fishing opportunities and is an easy drive to a national park. Bismarck-Mandan is a fun place to live and work with the amenities of a big city without the traffic and high cost of living.

This position pays $15/hour. Current or recently graduated college students are preferred.
