Digital Preservation Internship
Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) announces the availability of a part-time digital preservation internship from February through June 2026.
Responsibilities
● Digital preservation of historic documents associated with the development of Great Camp Santanoni, a National Historic Landmark in the Adirondack region.
● Archiving of files related to the more recent history of AARCH, a grassroots advocacy group that grew into the regional nonprofit organization for historic preservation in the Adirondacks.
● Organization of internal servers and cloud storage, including eliminating duplicates and standardizing internal files related to AARCH’s work at Great Camp Santanoni.
● The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in the 2026 cohort of Documentary Heritage & Preservation Services for New York and Community Webs, which offers training in preserving and providing access to local history through web archiving, digital preservation, and community archiving.
Position requirements
● Applicants must be a student majoring in history, library sciences, or a related field and attending an accredited college or university.
● Independently motivated who works well both on their own and in a small team environment.
● Familiarity with the Microsoft and Google application platforms and comfort with computer programs.
● Physically able to climb a steep flight of stairs to AARCH’s ground floor library along with the ability to lift boxes as needed.
Position details
● This is a hybrid position with some time spent at AARCH’s office in Keeseville, and some time spent working remotely.
● Employment dates are February through June 2026.
● This position will pay $17 per hour, for an average of 15 hours per week.
● A stipend will be paid on a biweekly basis during the period of the internship.
● At conclusion of the internship, the selected candidate will provide an in-person presentation and report on their activities to the Saranac Chapter, NSDAR.
