Engineering Summer Intern

In the role of Engineering Summer Intern, you learn about and work within natural gas transmission operations, providing technical support to Staff Supervisors, Engineers, and Technical Advisors. 

It’s an excellent job for people who want in-depth knowledge and some field experience within the energy and natural gas industry.

Placement Details:

This is a 3 month placement starting in June 2026, located in Houston, TX.

What you will do:

  • Learn about the technical intricacies of natural gas transmission operations.
  • Work with Staff Supervisors, Engineers, and Technical Advisors to achieve the goals of the team.
  • Provide engineering and project support to a variety of technical disciplines.
  • Collect and assess data for various technical projects and initiatives.
  • Perform field visits to support local projects (as needed).
  • Database Management, Clean up and File Sorting of important correspondence.
  • Data mining to support Integrity and Risk Management projects/initiatives.
  • Support 2nd Party Dig Review and Response and Store all the 2nd Party forms and responses.
  • Assist threat committees with assigned tasks.
  • Update Historical Inline Inspection, Direct Assessment , Hydrostatic pressure test tracking sheets.
  • Maintain Threat Management Records and assist with susceptibility review.
  • Perform records review and data analysis.
  • Assist with trending and outlier review from digs performed.

Who you are: 

  • You are currently enrolled in a full time post-secondary program studying Engineering and will be returning to full time school immediately following the work term. 
  • Effective and professional communication both verbal and written with ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to actively and consistently represent Enbridge’s core values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion, High Performance).

Working Conditions: 

  • Office based role, located in Houston, TX.
  • Relocation assistance is not provided.

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
