OVERNIGHT Staff - Union

START DATE: Spring 2026

Starting Pay: $11.50

Overnight staff’s primary focus is ensuring the safety and security of the Student Union during hours outside of normal operation. For most of their shift overnight staff are the only people in the building. Shifts begin at 11 PM and conclude at 7 AM the following day. Overnight staff will monitor the building with security cameras and will tour through the building throughout the shift. Overnight staff will also assist with unlocking and opening the building in the morning. Overnight staff report to the Student Union operations manager and student building managers who begin their shift at 6:30am each morning.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a student in good academic standing and have at least two full semesters remaining.
  • You will be required to work during late nights and early mornings (11pm-7am).
  • The ability to perform specific, detailed instructions/assignments with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment and initiative in stressful or emergency situations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Must be trustworthy, responsible, and present a well-mannered, professional image. 
  • Poses adequate computer skills. 
  • Must possess good organizational and multi-tasking skills. 

 

Essential duties include:

  • Assist in opening the building 
  • Routinely building tours: mech tour, exterior door, AED’s 
  • Respond to patron and building emergencies in a timely manner. 
  • Prepare daily operations reports on all disturbances or incidents that may arise throughout the course of a shift.  Daily Report content includes the times of routine building tours, incident reports, and patron problem incidents.  
  • Maintain a working knowledge of lock and key systems, including times of opening, closing, restrictions for various staff and student organization officers, take appropriate action to fulfill needs and requests, and prevent problems/conflicts. 
  • Possess working knowledge and utilize all paging systems to include; two-way radios, University Police, and building users. 
  • Possess working knowledge of all building alarm systems to include mechanical, fire, and intrusion.
