Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Labor Commissioner, Assistant Chief or designee, the Deputy Labor Commissioner Regional Manager functions as the Regional Manager and oversees the Wage Claims program with team members assigned to district offices across the State of California. The Regional Manager plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the work of the Wage Claims program to ensure proper training, support and consistent adherence to the division’s administrative policies and procedures. In addition, initiates and fosters training development within Wage Claims, promotes outreach activities to educate the public, and engages with community stakeholders to address issues and build stronger compliance and enforcement awareness.

Working Conditions
This position will oversee the following WCA district offices: San Bernardino and San Diego. Please identify in your application which office is your preference:
- 464 W. Fourth Street, Room 348, San Bernardino, CA 92401
- 7575 Metropolitan Drive, Room 210, San Diego, CA 92108
This position will have additional responsibilities across program offices and may be redirected to oversee other offices. Extensive travel required. The incumbent will work in an office setting. Travel as required to assigned district offices. Travel may be via land or air and may require overnight stay

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
For the purposes of meeting the minimum qualifications in this series, “relevant field of work” includes; but is not limited to, interpreting and enforcing labor laws or employment standards; analyzing employee grievances, payroll, or labor-related data; resolving workplace disputes; conducting investigations or audits involving wage and hours issues or employment practices; developing worker outreach or compliance programs; or advocating for labor protections, equity, and fair practices, or professional level work in the investigation and/or complaints regarding violations of state or federal labor laws or regulations.
All Levels: Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
Deputy Labor Commissioner I
Four years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work. At least one year of the required experience must be at a level equivalent to or higher than a Labor Compliance Representative.
Academic education from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Deputy Labor Commissioner II
Six years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work. At least two years of the required experience must be at a level equivalent to or higher than a Deputy Labor Commissioner I.
Academic education from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor
Either I
Two years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work at a level equivalent to or higher than a Deputy Labor Commissioner II.
Or II
Four years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work at a level equivalent to or higher than a Deputy Labor Commissioner I.
Deputy Labor Commissioner Regional Manager
Either I
Three years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work at a level equivalent to or higher than a Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor.
Or II
Five years of experience performing analytical or technical duties in a relevant field of work at a level equivalent to or higher than a Deputy Labor Commissioner II.
