Lead Behavior Technician
Position: Lead Behavior Technician
Department: Camping & Recreation
Reports to: Manager, Camping and Recreation

Summary: The Lead Behavior Technician plays a key leadership role in ensuring campers with behavioral, developmental, and cognitive disabilities receive high-quality, person-centered care. This position provides direct behavioral support to campers and collaborates with camp leadership to ensure consistent implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs), data collection, and staff training across sessions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct behavioral support to campers with varying cognitive and developmental abilities.
- Review and implement individualized behavior intervention plans
- Conduct on-the-spot behavior analysis to de-escalate challenging behaviors and promote positive coping strategies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the behavioral support team.
- Train, coach, and support counselors and other staff in evidence-based behavioral intervention techniques.
- Conduct daily check-ins with staff regarding behavioral concerns and progress monitoring.
- Ensure accurate documentation of behavioral incidents and intervention outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with the Manager of Camping and Recreation, the nursing team, and program leadership to ensure consistent camper support.
- Participate in staff meetings, camper review sessions, and crisis response debriefs.
- Maintain all required data and reports in accordance with BACB, COMAR, and ACA standards.
- Assist in pre-season and in-season training on positive behavior supports and crisis prevention.
- Remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations while promoting a positive camp culture.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a member of the Camp Leadership Team and the Emergency Action Team (EAT)
- Live on-site during camp seasons, work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, and engage fully in the camp community.
- Operationalize the mission of The League for People with Disabilities by creating a supportive environment for participants and staff
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Camping and Recreation
Qualification requirements:
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification in good standing
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with people with disabilities
- Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and therapeutic recreation practices.
