The Library of Congress Internships (LOCI) program is a seasonal, 10- or 12- week paid internship program that enables undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates to gain experience through applied learning and professional development opportunities that advance the academic and career pursuits of participants.

The 2026 Summer session of the Library of Congress Internships Program includes options for in-person, onsite project work. Interns hired under this announcement will be expected to commute to a Library of Congress facility in Washington, DC to conduct work.

LOCI Summer 2026 project cover a range or subjects and focus areas such as:

  • Desktop Management & Support
  • Economic Research Copyright & Creative Industries
  • Workflow Transformation
  • Federal Court Metadata
  • COVID 19 Stories
  • Germanic, Slavic & Eastern European Metadata

 

The onsite project names for summer 2026 are listed below. For full project descriptions and list of required skills for each project, applicants must review the information at this link prior to applying.

  1. The Source Youth Engagement and Operations (requires intern to work Tuesday through Saturday)
  2. Visitor Engagement Project (requires intern to work Tuesday through Saturday)
  3. Modern End-User Engineering
  4. Modern Desktop Management and Support
  5. Economic Research on Copyright and Creative Industries
  6. Workflow Wizard: Documentation Transformation for the Digital Imaging Lab
  7. Federal Appellate Court Records and Briefs Inventory and Metadata
  8. COVID-19 American History Project
  9. Less Commonly Taught Language Metadata (Germanic, Slavic, and Eastern European)
