Job Summary
The Middle School Science / STEM Teacher provides high-quality, standards-based instruction to students in grades 7 and 8. This position emphasizes inquiry-based learning, hands-on laboratory experiences, and integrated STEM instruction to develop students’ critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in alignment with Indiana Academic Standards
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana teaching license required (Science or appropriate middle school endorsement).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in science education or related field.
- Successful completion of student teaching or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of middle school instructional practices and adolescent development
- Ability to integrate technology and STEM concepts into daily instruction
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards for 7th and 8th Grade Science and STEM.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement and respect.
- Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning styles and academic needs.
- Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff.
- Collaborate with grade-level and department teams to support curriculum and intervention efforts.
- Integrate technology to enhance learning and student participation.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and committees as assigned.
- Support and enforce school rules, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to co-curricular or extracurricular activities as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and use classroom technology effectively.
