LHSI Intern: Canvas Site Management and Assistant for Pediatric Faculty Development Curriculum
Program Summary:
This internship is offered as a part of the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program (LHSI). This program connects 125 IU Indianapolis undergraduates per year with internships on campus with faculty and staff in a variety of health and science related campus areas/programs. All LHSI internships start in August 2026 and end in April 2027 and are paid $14/hour for up to 10 hours per week. Work-study is accepted but not required.

Overview of the internship site: The Our Kids Our Community Early Pediatric Provider Curriculum built in Canvas consists of 7 pillars to enhance care to urban, marginalized communities in collaboration with schools, organizations and families. Pediatric faculty have developed an online and in person hybrid experience built on Community Engagement, Quality/Safety and Practice Management, Teaching and Academic Advancement, Relational and Team Based Care, Project Planning Tool, Population Health and Health Equity. Faculty and interns will meet every first and third Wednesday morning between 9-11am to update and maintain the curriculum and make changes that will take place for the next set of scholars beginning September 2026-May 2027. After August 2026 faculty and interns will meet once a month on the first Wednesday. Interns will have the opportunity to work with both faculty and OKOC scholars and participate in all parts of the curriculum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Update, Maintain and Upgrade Canvas site
2. Keep minutes of meetings
3. Maintain To Do list and be sure assignments are completed
Work Environment and Dress Code: The work is performed primarily in an office setting with dress code: work casual
Project-specific qualifications:
- Comfort with Canvas and making edits to the platform
- Interest in the Field of Health Care
- Value for the Benefits of Group Process (4 faculty and one admin all engaged in discussions as well as meetings with multiple OKOC scholars who are young pediatric faculty/providers)
- Attention to Detail to be sure all of the Edits Are Completed
- Self Confidence to Give Feedback to Group to Enhance Curriculum, Experience and Canvas Site
- Carefully consider, explore, and articulate your career goals, including an analysis of how you arrived at that path and what steps you need to take next. (Community Contributor, Communicator)
Hours per week: 4-6; Wednesday morning availability
By the end of the LHSI program, you will:

LHSI Qualifications
- must be graduating May 2028 or after (usually a current freshman or sophomore in Spring 2026)
- Current full time IU Indianapolis undergraduate in 2025-26
- minimum overall GPA of 2.0
- All majors welcome
