Marketing and Creative Intern
REAL INTERNSHIP. REAL WORK.
Skip the generic internship. This is hands-on work inside a real, operating art gallery.
This is not a classroom exercise.
You’ll work on real projects, with real deadlines, inside a real business.
About the role
J. Nunez Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with two locations in New Jersey. We work at the intersection of art, marketing, and creative business.
We’re looking for an Art & Marketing Intern who wants practical experience and portfolio-worthy work.
This internship includes two possible tracks, depending on your availability and strengths:
Track 1 — Creative & Marketing (Remote / Hybrid)
You will work on:
- Social media content (Instagram, visuals, captions, campaigns)
- Marketing ideas and execution (not just brainstorming)
- Visual assets (basic design, layouts, presentations)
- Research and creative support for gallery projects
- Helping shape how the gallery communicates and presents itself
This track is flexible and can be done remotely.
Track 2 — Gallery Operations (On-Site — Summer Priority)
We are prioritizing candidates who can take on real responsibility inside the gallery during the summer.
You will work on:
- Opening and managing the gallery during scheduled hours
- Welcoming visitors and handling basic interactions
- Supporting daily operations and maintaining the space
- Assisting with artwork presentation and organization
You may be responsible for running the gallery independently during certain hours.
Requirements for this track:
- Ability to be physically present in Millburn, NJ
- Availability during summer months (June–August)
- Reliability and comfort working independently
Important
You can apply for either track.
However, priority will be given to candidates available for the on-site summer role.
Skills you’ll develop and use:
- Social media content creation (Instagram)
- Basic graphic design and visual layout
- Marketing execution and campaign support
- Creative research and idea development
- Visual communication and branding basics
- Client interaction and real-world business operations
What you’ll gain:
- Hands-on experience inside a functioning art business
- Real projects you can include in your portfolio
- Direct mentorship and feedback
- Exposure to how art, branding, and business connect
- A strong reference if the collaboration goes well
Who this is for
You don’t need to know everything.
For the right fit, this internship can evolve into a longer-term collaboration.
This role is a good fit if you are:
- Curious and willing to learn
- Interested in art, marketing, design, or creative strategy
- Comfortable taking initiative with guidance
- Reliable and able to take responsibility
How to apply:
Apply through Handshake with:
- Resume
- Short cover letter (tell us why this interests you)
Important — include in your application:
- Your weekly availability (days + hours)
- How many days per week you can be physically present in the gallery
- Your availability during summer (May–September)
If you want real experience inside a working gallery, apply.
