Lending Ops Engineer

Lending Ops Engineer

About Tenet

At Tenet, we’re accelerating electric vehicle adoption by rethinking the way cars are financed and purchased. We believe that one click financing is long overdue in the auto space and are building the infrastructure and systems to support that experience. As electric vehicle manufacturers have transformed the vehicle buying experience, Tenet is transforming the financing experience for those same vehicles.

Tenet operates across the US working with car buying marketplaces, the new wave of electric vehicle dealerships, and auto manufacturers. We are looking for high-agency, systems-level thinkers to join the team responsible for the automated engine powering our entire lending lifecycle from the first touchpoint to funding and onboarding.

This isn't a traditional software engineering role. You will be building the machine that streamlines approvals, improves funding speeds, and helps more consumers drive electric. You work closely with Growth, Risk, and Originations teams to ensure our operation runs with extreme precision and minimal friction.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect Processes: Design and build end-to-end logic for automated decisioning, from identity verification to complex "waterfall" data retrieval logic.
  • Iterate at Speed: Move from idea to prototype or experiment in hours, and push production changes in days, not weeks. You will prototype, test, and ship improvements that have an immediate impact on the customer and agent experience.
  • Integrate Communications: Test and trigger key communications (SMS, Email, AI & human calls) at the right time. Work with modern communications tooling including Twilio, AI phone agents, and automated email campaigns.
  • Intelligent Automation: Leverage AI infrastructure and capabilities to improve decision-making and productivity with internal tools.
  • Bridge the Stack: Use a mix of no-code/low-code tools and code (JavaScript) to solve problems that don’t have a "native" integration.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Work directly with our Originations and Servicing teams to identify bottlenecks and build internal tools and workflows that improve the agent and customer experience.

What We Look For

  • Technical Education: Engineering degree and/or completion of coding bootcamp.
  • Technical Competency: Entry-level proficiency in JavaScript is required, with ability to interact with JSON objects and REST APIs.
  • Systems Thinking: You naturally map out how data flows through an organization. You like solving puzzles and simplifying complexity.
  • Fast Learner: You are obsessed with finding the most efficient way to solve a problem and are willing to try different tools and approaches to get to a winning solution. You value stability, but you value speed and iteration more.
  • Empathy: You understand the user experience (for the customer) and the agent experience (for our internal teams). You dogfood our own tools to see what can be improved. You care deeply to improve those experiences.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience or Education in Finance, Risk, and Data Science.
  • Side projects (e.g., personal productivity bots, AI built games).
  • Based in (or willing to be in) Brooklyn, NY. Can be remote with travel to NY.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance with 100% employer-paid premiums for employees on several plans
  • Company HSA, FSA, Dependent Care, 401k
  • Employer-funded life and disability insurance coverage
  • 11 Observed Holidays & Flexible PTO
  • Up to 12 weeks paid family leave

Salary

  • Compensation Range: $75,000 - $95,000/yr
  • Equity Options package
  • This is the compensation range for the United States, actual compensation may vary based on individual candidate experience, location, or evolving business needs
