JOB DESCRIPTION
Shoemaker & Haaland is currently seeking to hire a full time Structural Engineer Level II to join our team of engineers and technical specialists. A successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college/university.
- Currently Licensed Professional Engineer OR on pace to take the PE exam within two years.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC) and possess design knowledge of key structural elements in structural steel and reinforced concrete.
SKILLS
- Work well in a team environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other disciplines.
- Required Software Skills: RISA 3D, Bluebeam, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate loads and select structural members based upon forces and service demands.
- Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects of various sizes with the main focus on industrial projects.
- Design of shallow and deep foundations, underground concrete vaults and tunnels, and slab reinforcement for a variety of loading conditions.
- Design of steel structures including building, additions, access platforms including ladder and stair details, trusses, two-legged bents and four-legged support towers.
- Develop a variety of structural connections including unique connections caused by field interferences.
- Verify field conditions, constructability of designs, and assist in resolving problems during field construction.
- Interpreting and designing from a variety of different domestic and foreign structural building design codes.
- Prepare reports, designs, and drawings.
- Redline drawings for Revit Designers and review updated submittals for accuracy.
- Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.
- Interact with clients.
