Job Description

Qualifications:

  1. South Carolina certified at appropriate level.
  2. Master’s Degree or higher in ELA, Reading or Literacy preferred.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  4. Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  5. Effective presentation skills.
  6. Completed the initial Mentor training.

Reports to: Principals

 

Job Goal: To serve as English Language Arts instructional resource person to the classroom teacher, provide and model literacy instruction, and coordinate ELA staff development activities at the building level.

 

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate the implementation of South Carolina State Standards.
  2. Train and support all content area teachers for effective literacy skill integration.
  3. Assist in the identification and provision of professional development activities designed to address specific school and individual needs.
  4. Help design and provide individual and small group instruction for identified students.
  5. Observe and provide feedback regarding effective instructional practices.
  6. Conduct demonstration lessons in the classroom to reflect current research and effective instructional practices.
  7. Assist in the analysis of standardized test scores to guide instructional strategies.
  8. Other appropriate duties assigned by principal.

 

Terms of Employment: 190 day contract. Salary determined by placement on district teacher salary schedule plus $3,000 stipend.

 

Evaluation: Job performance evaluated annually in accordance with board policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
