Job Description
Qualifications:
- South Carolina certified at appropriate level.
- Master’s Degree or higher in ELA, Reading or Literacy preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Completed the initial Mentor training.
Reports to: Principals
Job Goal: To serve as English Language Arts instructional resource person to the classroom teacher, provide and model literacy instruction, and coordinate ELA staff development activities at the building level.
Performance Responsibilities
- Facilitate the implementation of South Carolina State Standards.
- Train and support all content area teachers for effective literacy skill integration.
- Assist in the identification and provision of professional development activities designed to address specific school and individual needs.
- Help design and provide individual and small group instruction for identified students.
- Observe and provide feedback regarding effective instructional practices.
- Conduct demonstration lessons in the classroom to reflect current research and effective instructional practices.
- Assist in the analysis of standardized test scores to guide instructional strategies.
- Other appropriate duties assigned by principal.
Terms of Employment: 190 day contract. Salary determined by placement on district teacher salary schedule plus $3,000 stipend.
Evaluation: Job performance evaluated annually in accordance with board policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
