Mechanical Design Drafter

Position: Mechanical Design Drafter

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Drafter (SolidWorks) to create 2D/3D models, manage BOMs/MRP data, and review customer drawings. Candidates should have an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, strong CAD skills, knowledge of GD&T, and experience with manufacturing techniques such as fixturing, tolerance stack‑up, hardware selection, and DFM.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, adhering to industry standards and project specifications
  • Generate and maintain bills of material (BOMs)
  • Input and maintain part information in MRP system
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
  • Participate in design reviews as required
  • Review and interpret customer-supplied manufacturing drawings/source material
  • Maintain and organize project documentation per internal standards
  • Identify and resolve design discrepancies and potential fabrication issues

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Practical or professional experience using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and drafting standards
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design/manufacturing techniques (fixturing, kinematic mounting, tolerance stack-up, hardware selection, DFM)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
