Ticket Office Work Study Student Assistant

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

The Texas State Athletic Ticket Office is looking to hire energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented students with great customer service skills to serve as an office assistant in our athletic ticket office.  This position will support the Director of Ticket Sales in answering inbound calls and making outbound calls to various stakeholders. Candidates will also assist the Director of Ticket Operations and Associate Athletic Director for Ticket Sales and Operations in various projects and performing basic ticket office functions from office set up to organization.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Sell tickets to inbound customers via phone and in-person sales during business hours and at events
  • Answer inbound calls and make outbound calls
  • Perform general office functions
  • Complete assigned office projects 

 

ON-CAMPUS JOB LOCATION: 

 

Main Athletics Ticket Office, Bobcat Stadium Gate 6 Office

 

DIRECT SUPERVISOR(s): Assistant Director of Ticketing- Hank Scott and Director of Ticketing- Peyton Burkland

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 

 

Students in this position are expected to work up to 10 hours a week during office hours (Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm). This position also requires that you are available to work during all home football games beginning no later than 2 hours before game time until the end of the game. As well as select volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball games that occur on weeknights and weekends.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Students must provide proof of their Work Study Award for the fall semester to be considered.
  • Must be able to work games and events, including all home football games, as well as select men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball games that will occur on weeknights and weekends.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates must also be reliable, organized, and adaptable, as well as showcase proper customer-service etiquette. A desire to gain experience in athletic ticket sales and the business side of athletics is a plus.
  • The ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule and be able to work at least four hours per shift during business hours and varying shifts during events. 

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS

 

Student employees will be evaluated by direct supervisors at the end of each long semester (fall/spring) based on overall performance, growth, and ability to work within the department student staff team.

 

PAYRATE DETERMINATION: 

 

All student employees begin at the starting pay rate of $8 an hour and may increase by .25 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment based on merit and with consecutive positive evaluations from their direct supervisors using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form.
