Brethren Volunteer Service Volunteer D4HRDC

Project Description:

HRDC is a rural nonprofit community action agency whose mission is to partner with people with low income in their effort to achieve economic stability, and to advocate for their social and economic advancement. They offer a variety of services to help individuals become self-sufficient, such as childcare, victim services, employment and training, food support, and housing programs. 

Job Title:

  1. Facilities Maintenance Worker
  2. Food Bank Assistant
  3. Agency Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Facilities Maintenance Workers renovate, repair, and maintain homes and HRDC facilities. A truck and necessary tools are provided. The volunteer should have experience with carpentry and minor home repair as well as a valid driver’s license.
  2. The Food Bank Assistant helps with daily operations of the Havre Community Food Bank. The volunteer will receive, sort, and distribute food and will provide “over the counter” service to those in need of food. They also help with maintaining a clean facility and friendly environment.
  3. The Agency Assistant helps with the reception duties at HRDC directing clients to the appropriate program for assistance within HRDC and the community. The volunteer will help individuals complete applications and access services that will benefit them. They would also help at outreach events to assist in educating the public about programs provided.

Additional Information:

Duties are flexible according to the skills and interests of the volunteers, and the volunteer may take on a combination of the positions listed. HRDC has a variety of programs and many areas where a volunteer may be needed. HRDC can also provide a tailored experience to meet the interest and skills of the volunteer.

Brethren Volunteer Service volunteers receive a monthly stipend of $250. Housing, food, and insurance are covered in addition to the monthly stipend. 

Volunteer positions are for one year with option of extension.
