Education Intern

ABOUT US

The Egyptian YouTheatre, the youth program of the Egyptian Theatre and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to fostering personal development through the creative discipline of the performing arts. Through tuition-free classes and productions funded by generous donors, we provide accessible opportunities that build social, emotional, and creative skills for every child. We proudly welcome students of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities, and we are committed to maintaining a safe, adaptable, and inclusive environment.

Our mission is to ignite a lifelong passion for the arts by nurturing growth, compassion, and creativity in our students, staff, and community. With a fully compensated team of full-time artists, instructors, and seasonal staff, we serve more than 500 students annually across our fall, spring, and summer semesters—offering meaningful, high-quality arts education that empowers young people and strengthens our community.

 

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The YouTheatre Summer Intern Program is open to all, regardless of skill level or training. We believe in the potential of every individual and are excited to welcome a new generation of teaching artists.

 

We are seeking applicants with the status of current undergrad students* in theater and theater education disciplines who also:

  • work well in a fast-paced environment
  • are adaptable and flexible, and handle stress and challenges with positive strategies
  • are passionate about education – learning from others while advancing their instructional skills, primarily youth.
  • can complete a daily commute to Park City. (We include a travel stipend in the contract, but we DO NOT PROVIDE HOUSING.)

 

* If you are a Senior who will be graduating in the same year as the Internship you are applying for, you may still apply, however, you may wish to submit your resume and cover letter to our managing director at mary@parkcityshows.com for consideration as a summer part-time instructor or for other available summer positions.

 

Education Internship

Education Interns participate in a guided coaching program where they shadow and learn from a full-time instructor during assigned summer camps. Interns gain hands-on experience developing lesson plans, implementing curriculum, observing different teaching styles, and practicing classroom management. After demonstrating readiness, interns may independently teach a one-week camp with support and observation from a staff mentor. Throughout the summer, interns receive ongoing feedback, and upon completion, they are provided with a letter of recommendation to support future opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to follow direction
  • Energetic, collaborative, and comfortable working with students K–12
  • Background in the creative and/or performing arts is a must
  • Teaching or theatre experience is a plus
  • Additional skills in music (sight-reading/piano), choreography, or staging are a plus

General Duties

  • Maintain a journal and portfolio of your work
  • Assist in preparing materials and facilitating camps and productions
  • Complete additional assigned projects

 

WHAT TO SUBMIT

  • Describe prior classes or experience that are applicable
  • Describe what you hope to gain and what you will contribute
  • Content should demonstrate your ability to meet the required skills and duties of the internship

2. Resume (PDF only)

  • Include all relevant education and experience
  • Provide contact information for 2-3 references (who can speak to your work ethic, conduct, and character)

3. Letters of Recommendation

  • At least one academic or professional recommendation letter
  • Must be relevant to the internship you are applying for

4. Other Applicable Documents (optional)

  • Examples: portfolio, photos, sketches, CV, website, or online portfolio
  • May be submitted as a PDF or other digital format

5. Paperwork for School Credit (if applicable)

  • Provide documentation from your department head confirming the internship qualifies for academic credit
  • Must include contact information for your university/college advisor

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • APPLICATIONS RECEIVED BY Feb 22, 2026, to be given priority consideration.
  • NO APPLICATIONS will be accepted after March 30, 2026.
  • INTERVIEWS will be conducted by appointment in February and March 2026.
  • DECISIONS will be made by the end of April 2026.
  • MANDATORY SUMMER STAFF TRAINING will be held on May 16, 2026.
  • SUMMER CAMPS run June-August. Specific dates for internships will be listed in the acceptance letter.
